A 66-year-old patient presenting with anemia and weight loss undewent an ultrasound scan. Antral walls appeared thickened with vascular signal. After water filling, a narrowing of the lumen at that level became evident. Upper GI endoscopy confirmed the suspected gastric cancer.
Water is very helpful in ultrasound differential diagnosis of gastric wall thickening. In fact, the apparent antrum wall thickening in Image 4, similar to our patient’s case, was not confirmed after water swallowing in Image 5, showing a perfectly normal stomach.
